Where the community lives

In an online match, Enter opens the match chat: a line to the players of your match (signed-in players type; guests read). The Friends panel (the orange FRIENDS button on the start screen, or 💬 in the menu) shows our Discord server inside the game: who is online, the chat, and a Message button that opens a Discord DM with a player (a whisper). Joining the server once puts you in it from any device. Friends, requests and private messages are Discord's own, so they work the same in the game, in the Discord app and on the web.

The rules

  1. Be decent. No harassment, hate speech, slurs, threats, or targeting of anyone for who they are. Trash talk about a fight is fine; attacking a person is not.
  2. Nothing illegal. No threats of violence, no stolen accounts, cheats or pirated content, no scams or fraud, no drugs trade, and no sexual content involving minors. These get an instant, permanent ban, and we report them to Discord and, where the law requires, to the authorities.
  3. No links in chat. Links are removed automatically. Share pictures of your board through Discord's own uploads; share nothing else.
  4. No spam. No flooding, repeated messages, walls of capitals, mass mentions, begging, or advertising of any kind, including other servers.
  5. Keep private things private. Never post anyone's real name, address, phone number, pictures or other personal details, yours or others'. Never share account passwords.
  6. Play fair. No cheating, exploits, bots, win-trading, or impersonating staff or other players.
  7. Follow Discord's own rules. Discord's Community Guidelines and Terms of Service apply to everything on the server.

What happens when a rule is broken

  • Automatic safeguards. Discord's AutoMod removes links, blocked words, mention spam and flooding the moment they are posted, and times the sender out. In the game's match chat the same rules are checked as you type: a link, or flooding the chat, is held back and mutes you on the ladder below, and the mute follows your account into every match.
  • Mutes. A violation mutes you (a Discord timeout, and in the game a chat mute): 5 minutes the first time, then 10 minutes, 1 hour, and 24 hours for repeats. A mute ends on its own; a moderator can lift one early if it was a mistake.
  • Bans. Anything under Nothing illegal, repeated harassment, or coming back on another account to dodge a mute is a permanent ban from the server, and the matching game account is suspended.
  • Appeals. If you think a decision was wrong, email us (below) with your Discord name and what happened. We read every one.

Reporting

In Discord, right-click a message and choose Report Message, or send a moderator a DM. For anything urgent or about a game account, email [email protected]. Reports are confidential; the person reported is never told who reported them.

Children

The game and the server are not meant for children under 13, which is also Discord's own minimum age. If you believe a child under 13 is in the community, tell us and we will remove the account.

Changes

If we change these rules we will update this page and its date, and say so on the server.
